Old rules
These are old rules for the 2013 FF1GP season which are no longer valid.
Welcome to the 2013 FF1GP Season
Fantasy Formula 1 Grand Prix (FF1GP) is a free online game for Formula 1 fans to play and enjoy.
To play, all you have to do is enter your team based on a selection of drivers and teams, and you score points based on how the real drivers and team do in each F1 race.
You can score extra points for your FF1GP team by predicting where you think your chosen drivers and teams will finish in the race. You must enter your predictions before the Formula 1 Qualifying starts.
The FF1GP website also allows you to setup your own league so you can have your own little private competition between your friends or your colleagues at work.
There is a different scoring system depending on if you enter a Want to win , Want to lose or Mega budget FF1GP team.
You are permitted to enter up to a maximum of 5 FF1GP teams per account.
Team types
There are 3 team types you can select when entering your FF1GP team.
- Want to win - For creating your ultimate F1 dream team.
- Want to lose - Fancy creating a nightmare F1 team? See how well you do when you pick the drivers and teams who usually hang out at the back of the grid.
- Mega budget - A just for fun team type, where there are no budget restrictions. However Mega budget teams are excluded from winning predictions medals and cups.
Budget
There is a set budget for Want to win , Want to lose or Mega budget team types. When entering your FF1GP team you do not have to spend all your budget.
The budget for each team type is as follows.

Rules for 'Want to win' team entries
General entry rules
- You must select 2 different Formula 1 teams.
- You must select 2 different Formula 1 drivers.
- You cannot select more than 1 Formula 1 drivers from the same Formula 1 team.
Driver changes
You cannot change your team and driver choices once you have entered your Fantasy Formula 1 Grand Prix team.
If a Formula 1 driver in your Fantasy Formula 1 Grand Prix team is replaced for any reason, the replacement driver will take their place on your Fantasy Formula 1 Grand Prix and score points in place of your absent driver.
Your Budget
Your budget for selecting your Want to win team is:
£ 32 million
You must not exceed your budget when selecting your 2 teams and 2 drivers for your FF1GP team.
Leagues
When you enter your Want to win FF1GP team, it will be entered automactically into the following leagues:
- The FF1GP World Championship League
- Want to win league
You may join any other leagues that allow Want to win teams, if they are open or you have the league joining password.
Awards and achievements
There are also also awards and achievements for you to unlock and collect. These achievements can be unlocked by entering teams and predictions. During the season more achievements will be added during the season.
The full list of achievements can be found on the Awards which may give you an idea on how to unlock them.
Some awards achievements can be collected at least once per season.
There are also some secret achievements. To unlock them, here are some clues.
- Some say... you know that guy in a white race-suit who appears on a program called Top Gear.
- Timing is everything... You know, it's never wise to enter predictions just before qualifying.... or is it?
General scoring rules
- Points are awarded for how well your drivers or teams in your Want to win Fantasy Formula 1 Grand Prix team did in the race and qualifying.
- For a driver or team to score any points, a Driver must be classified as a finisher in the Formula 1 race by the FIA.
- For the teams in your Fantasy Formula 1 Grand Prix team, only the highest finishing driver of that team is awarded any points.
Qualifying points
The Formula 1 qualifying system is a knock out competition, held in 3 sessions. Extra points are scored for your FF1GP teams as follows for progressing to each session.
- Getting knocked out in the 1st qualifying session 0 points
- Progressing to the 2nd qualifying session 3 points
- Progressing to the 3rd qualifying session 3 points
If your driver or or highest finishing driver in your selected teams is disqualified from the qualifying session, no qualifying points are awarded.
Race points
Points are awarded for the position your team or driver finishes in the race. It is the same scoring system as used by the Formula 1 championships set in 2013.

Improvement points
You get 1 point for each position you team or driver in your FF1GP team improves on his starting position.
So if your car starts 5th and finishes 2nd, you get a extra 3 points. But if you go back down the grid, (ie if you start in 2nd and finish 5th) you don't get any points, and also you do not lose any.
If your team or driver in your FF1GP team is moved up or down the grid by the FIA for any reason (Such as engine or gearbox changes penalties), the starting position is taken as the position your driver and team qualified in before being moved.
Fastest lap of the race
If one of your drivers or teams in your FF1GP team has the fastest lap of the race, you score 3 points.
Hattrick points
If one of your drivers or teams in your FF1GP team starts off on Pole position, has the fastest lap of the race, and wins the race, you score 3 points.
Driver Ego points
These points are only awarded to the drivers in your FF1GP team.
If any of your drivers in your FF1GP team beats their real life teammate, you score 3 points. The points are not awarded if your FF1GP driver finishes the race, and their real life teammate does not.
Prediction points
You can obtain extra bonus for predicting each week where your drivers and highest finishing team car finishes each race. In order to be in a chance or obtaining these extra points, you need to enter your predictions for each race
If you do not enter a prediction for each race, you will not score any extra bonus points, but you will still score points from the race.
You must also enter your predictions before the closing time for prediction entries, which is normally just before the start of Formula 1 Qualifying.
You may change your prediction as many times as you like before the close of prediction entries.
Bonus points are awarded as follows.
- Correct prediction 5 points
- 1 positions away 3 points
- 2 positions away 2 points
- 3 positions away 1 point
- More than 3 positions away 0 points
- Correctly predicting a DNF 3 points
To score any points for DNF positions, the driver or team must at least turn up for the 1st qualifying session of the race weekend. In the case of teams, both drivers in the team must not finish the race to score any DNF points.
Prediction medals
Want to win teams can be awarded the following medals at each race.

Disqualification penalties
If any of your drivers is disqualified at a race by the FIA for any reason, your overall team score will be penalised 5 points.
If one of your cars in one your teams is disqualified, your overall team score will be penalised 5 points.,
If all drivers in your selected team is disqualified, your overall team score will be penalised 10 points.
Race awards
Want to win teams can be awarded the following cups at each race.

League cup awards

- The player joins and enters a FF1GP team into the league.
- There are at least 5 players in the league
- The league owner has enabled the awarding of league cups.

Rules for 'Want to lose' team entries

- Progressing no further than the 2nd qualifying session 3 points
- Progressing no further than the 3rd qualifying session 0 points
If your driver or or highest finishing driver in your selected teams is disqualified from the qualifying session, no qualifying points are awarded.
Race points
Points are awarded for the position your team or driver finishes in the race. It is the same scoring system as used by the Formula 1 championships set in 2013.

Dropback points
You get 1 point for each position you team or driver moves down the grid. So if your car starts 2nd and finishes 5th, you get a extra 3 points. But if you go up the grid, (ie if you start in 5th and finish 2nd) you don't get any points, and you do not loose any.
If your team or driver in your FF1GP team is moved up or down the grid by the FIA for any reason (Such as engine or gearbox changes penalties), the starting position is taken as the position your driver and team qualified in before being moved.
Slowest lap of the race
If one of your drivers or teams in your FF1GP team has the slowest lap of the race, you score 3 points.
During the race, all drivers set their fastest lap time. The points awarded for the Slowest lap is awarded to the driver with the slowest racing lap time from all the fastest racing laps of the race. A racing lap is considering to be a lap done at the best maximum speed of the car. Slow laps as a result of a mechanical failures, safety cars or driving slowly back to the pits are not considered as a lap that qualifies as a slow lap.
Hattrick points
If one of your drivers or teams in your FF1GP team starts off on in last position, has the slowest lap of the race, and finishes last in the race, you score 3 points.
Driver Ego points
These points are only awarded to the drivers in your FF1GP team.
If any of your drivers in your FF1GP team gets beaten by their real life teammate, you score 3 points. The points are not awarded if your FF1GP driver finishes the race, and their real life teammate does not.
Prediction points
You can obtain extra bonus for predicting each week where your drivers and highest finishing team car finishes each race. In order to be in a chance or obtaining these extra points, you need to enter your predictions for each race
If you do not enter a prediction for each race, you will not score any extra bonus points, but you will still score points from the race.
You must also enter your predictions before the closing time for prediction entries, which is normally just before the start of Formula 1 Qualifying.
